FROM THE SHEPHERD’S HEART
We had a good day last Sunday with 525 in Bible Study including 412 at our 9:45 and 113 at our 11:00 Sunday Schools. Thanks to Ernie Thompson and our Handbell Choir for playing at the early and late services. Thanks to Cliff McKeithan for his beautiful solo, “I’d Rather Have Jesus,” at the early service. Thanks to our Contemporary and Blended praise teams for their contributions to those services.
Thanks as well to Greg Burrell, Ashley Hawkins and our Sanctuary Choir for their moving anthem at our late service. And thanks to Jim Bright for sharing the annual Gideons’ report at all three services. The Gideons received over $1,080 in offerings for the morning.
I also wanted to thank both Mary Ann Leverett and Bert Wall for sharing such challenging words about love being the great motivator for giving during my message. They are the co-chairpersons of our “PRESSING TOWARD THE FINISH” capital stewardship campaign. As of this writing (Monday morning), we have 8 new Commitment Cards turned in for a total of $21,000 more in two-year pledges. That brings our total participants in the campaign up to 153 and our total commitments to $671,000! A number of folks also took cards home to think and pray about what they might give to this campaign. We’d love to hear back from you by this Sunday. The blue collection boxes will be in the Sanctuary on Sunday, or you may turn your Commitment Card in during the week directly to our Financial Secretary, Christy Allen.
I taught my DISCOVERY CLASS last Sunday evening to seven fine folks. I teach the class for prospective and new members of our church every other month on Sunday evenings.
Once again, I’m so proud of the ladies who worked diligently on our 25th ANNIVERSARY COOKBOOK! They’re selling like hotcakes! Get yours soon!
This coming Sunday is MOTHER’S DAY with our BABY CELEBRATION. In worship, both the music and the message will center around motherhood. Abraham Lincoln said, “All that I am or ever hope to be I owe to my angel mother. Her prayers have followed me all of my life.” I’ll see you Sunday.
I Love You, Garth |
