Others First: Sunday Supply

Being living proof of a loving God means jumping to action when disaster strikes. We want to put others first and supply for the needs of those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“Others First: Sunday Supply” is a disaster relief effort that we are committing to as a church family for the next six months. The OTHERS FIRST initiative will mobilize teams of our FBC Barnesville family on the first Saturday of the month to make repairs, clear trees and debris, and deliver much needed supplies to areas of great impact. SUNDAY SUPPLY is an effort to collect a few very intentional items every Sunday for a full month that will then be delivered by our OTHERS FIRST teams on their next trip. This page will house trip information + registration and Sunday Supply items for each month.
Valdosta Relief

OTHERS FIRST

Valdosta

The Valdosta, GA area was hit by Hurricane Helene, and many are still struggling through the aftermath of the storm. The Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Valdosta State University quickly jumped to action to care for community needs instead of putting their efforts toward repairing the storm damage of their own facility.
We are assembling a small team of handymen with construction-related skills/expertise to head to VSU on Saturday, November 2 from 6a–10p to help make those needed repairs to the BCM facility. This is not a clean-up trip; interested individuals should be 18+ and proficient in construction/repair. Click HERE to sign up to serve in Valdosta.

OTHERS FIRST

Mount Vernon

The Mount Vernon, GA (Montgomery County) area experienced devastating tree loss during Hurricane Helene. Many pecan farms suffered complete loss of their annual crop and decades-old pecan trees. First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon has mobilized in the community to help cut and clear downed trees in the area.

We are assembling a small team to head to Mount Vernon, GA./Montgomery County on Saturday, November 2 from 6a–10p to help cut and carry fallen trees. Those wanting to serve should be 16+ and highly capable with a chainsaw OR physically able to move/haul tree debris. Click HERE to sign up to serve in Mount Vernon.

Sunday Supply

Sleeping Bags & Soup

There are many areas across Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and the Carolinas that will be working through the aftermath of Hurricane Helene for months to come. Entire neighborhoods are living in tents as their homes were complete losses, and many more are still without power and much-needed supplies. Some specific needs are emerging, particularly as the winter months are approaching for these mountain towns, and we want to help fill those gaps through our Sunday Supply… See a need, meet a need! Here’s how it works:

Our church will collect 2 items each month over the next 6 months – the items will change every month based on the specific needs of our partners. Donations can be brought on Sunday mornings and should be placed on the stage in the Annex (behind the sanctuary). We will stock the Sunday Supply for the full month and then your donations will be taken by one of our teams at the beginning of the next month. The November Sunday Supply items are SLEEPING BAGS & CANNED SOUP (pop tab lids are preferred).

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
